"sorry dishes, you will not be cleaned tonight"

This week was challenging. I don't even want to think about it but it's good to let it out and let it go. I work better like that. Once it's written or said out loud I feel much better. This week was the end of Zach's Spring session and it's was tough... tough to watch him in and out of the house... tough to feel him next to me sleeping for a couple hours a night, three nights in a row. His eyes looked exhausted. He was wiped out. With all that he had to do, I took all the extra tasks with Olivia and man oh' man sometimes it's plain out aggravating. Patience is not one of my best friends. When I'm getting pulled around in different directions mentally, I'm a ball of messiness. My decision making, organizing skills and mental clarity just goes out the window. I'm late paying bills. I forget to call people back or lose memory with simple things. I'll walk into a room and forget what I needed to do.

Here's one of my daily scenarios (I work part-time (30 hrs) and usually pick up Olivia after work). We come home and the list starts. Here it goes: figure out dinner (this is actually harder than it seems), cook, clean dishes, wash clothes (try to do this between all of the cooking), entertain O with some dancing and singing, give her a bath before dinner is ready, try and get some pj's on her, pray she will eat her dinner (her eating habits are up and down), make a bottle since she's usually still hungry, clean up the kitchen, lay on the floor and let her jump all over me and then! place her in the crib where she cries for about 10 mins before she finally falls asleep. For two people it's not that bad but for one... it just slaps you silly especially after a busy day of work.

Zach is always so helpful, even if he has to be working on school work, he will lend an extra hand every time and is never bothered by me asking for help. That's why I love him so much. I'm the biggest whiner; I'm the one that's moody or irritable. I'm the one who wants to break down and cry because it's too tough for me to handle. For some reason, he's not bothered by me and always gives me comfort emotionally and physically. He's the kind of person that surprises me on how calm he can be during highly stressful moments. Well, he's just a special man, my special man. hehe. I'm lucky to have him in my life.

So, I should probably clarify that I almost never get to all these things on the list above like cleaning clothes and washing dishes but my mind is always trying to tackle it even on my way to bed. I have to just say "sorry dishes, you will not be cleaned tonight".  There it goes... my venting for the day, week and hopefully month because my Zach is done for this semester. One more Summer, one more Fall and one more Spring till this family is free to buzz around in other parts of the world. This Queen Bee is holding on while she's learning the valuable lesson of patience. Good Night. Gooood night. good night.

Vinyl Daze

Here's what I listened to this week on Vinyl.

Top: The Cure/Disintegration, The Kinks/Lola vs Powerman and the Moneygoround, Popeye Sound Track
Bottom: Weird Al Yankovic/"Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D, David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust, Gary McFarland/The In Sound

Started the week off with some Weird Al and I was laughing, jumping and singing with Olivia. By the end of the week, I'm exhausted and whinny so I listening to The Cure (classic emo). Gary Mcfarland, The In Sound and Popeye, are really good cooking with kids music on a week night and don't forget some wine! One of my all time favorite songs is "Strangers" by The Kinks. Every time I hear "And if I live too long I'm afraid I'll die" just sets me in gear. As we get older and older we get closer and closer to our final breath. Pretty scary.... but the strongest moment in life itself. Look at me getting all emo on Friday. Oh geez... Here's some Weird Al to lighten up the mood.... enjoy!

Spring Clearing

 Mama has no closet

Zach's Dali print that I stare at every morning

Where the magic happens (it was just set up for me to say :)

I've started the clearing. Yes, the clearing and then the cleaning. I think is a two-part series. First, get rid of all the clutter and extra things that you don't need and then do a deep cleaning. Before motherhood, I would take the entire day and do both (and not just one room - the entire house). Now, I can hardly do one room. It kind of makes me crazy on how little I can do now but really? It's not that big of a deal to do things in steps. I'm learning to just chill out with the "Have To Do" lists. It will get done and in the mean time accept the process. So, I started with our room. It's very small so it didn't take up the entire day but we definitely had a lot of clothes to weed out. Cleared out shoes and extra books. I don't like to touch Zach's side too much. He's a bit of a hoarder with books so I try and just organize it and leave it alone. On with the next room...

Today was a very chill day. We walked, played in the pool, went to Target and watched some Yo Gabba Gabba. Olivia loves that show - she gets TV face. It's pretty funny. Zach has 2 weeks till this semester is over... Yay! The last month of every semester is soooo hard! Olivia and I miss our Zach! I guess we will wait and then we will play! hopefully at the beach! Later ya'll

Splish Splash

I can't say enough how much I love my little Olivia. She is absolutely the sweetest, smartest, cutest and all around loving little girl. We are so lucky!! All three of us hung out on the front porch playing with some of her toys in her own little pool. She loved it! She patted the water then slapped it around... then jumped in. So far the pool was a great purchase, we are ready for that summer heat.

Olivia's bathing suit was a gift from her Auntie Michelle. Thanks Shell!!

Pugs are looking so glum.... I think it's time for a dog park visit pronto.

Look at this face!! This is the face of Summer!

Geminis - GIA & ZACH!

Yeah you know it! We are some crazy Gemini's. I was born on June 10th and Zach was born on June 21st. I'm a lot crazier than Zach. He's on the cusp (gemini/cancer). The only time I see the Gemini in him is when we're drinking! He lets loose and the "Zach Attack" comes out. He's dancing and jumping all over the place. We even jump in bushes........ haha I'll have to share this hilarious drunken video of us one day. I'll be adding some Geminis once in a while just to show how amazing we are!! (wink wink)

Busy Bee/Framing - Introduction

I'm an art framer and absolutely love it. I went to school at UF for Fine Arts and basically spent a lot of money to paint all day and drink beer; which is good and bad but we won't get into this. After graduating, I landed this "not so wealthy" of a framing job and I'm grateful that I did, even if I'm a little on the poor side. I've worked many of places; some retail, some food and some computer jobs. Framing just keeps coming back around to me. It's been 8 years now framing and I still get to see all sorts of really amazing artwork as well as some really bad stuff (stuff you question, really?). Meeting the people are just as cool as framing the pieces (the stories!) Overall I love using my hands and designing pieces that really need a boost as well as making friends with the community wherever I am.

Here are some photos from work:

I recently framed these florida watercolors (below as well) for the store and they sold a week later!

This is a Mola. Pretty interesting how popular they are. We get people saying they have one at home almost every week and that they want us to frame it exactly this way. I personally am not thrilled about the yellow but it really shouts out to the public "Hey look, I'm a Mola!"

I designed this one for my boss who is a big time collecter of maps, folk art and anything african. He doesn't need an excuse to frame. Anything and everything that can fit in a frame should be in a frame. haha

This is my little guy I framed to display at the store. It's cute. I painted him when I was pregnant with Olivia for an art show in Orlando.

If I'm not mistaken, I think these are African herding sticks. I'll have to ask what they are called.
