Interesting facts about Josephine Baker:  Baker was the first African American female to star in a major motion picture, Zouzou, to integrate an American concert hall, and to become a world-famous entertainer. She appeared in the chorus lines of all-black revues on New York vaudeville stages, then travelled to Paris in 1925 as part of La Revue Negre. Baker dropped out of school at the age of 12 and lived as a street child in the slums of St. Louis. Ernest Hemingway called her "… the most sensational woman anyone ever saw."After the war she fought for civil rights in the United States, returned to France and retired in 1956 to look after her 12 adopted children.

I had no idea that Maurice Sendak and I shared the same birthday. This is strange because I've always admired his illustrations and when I started my own illustrations, they had a very "Wild Things" feel to it. I recently listened to an interview he did on NPR. He was so telling about his views on life and death. If you haven't checked it out... please do! Check here!

Geminis - GIA & ZACH!

Yeah you know it! We are some crazy Gemini's. I was born on June 10th and Zach was born on June 21st. I'm a lot crazier than Zach. He's on the cusp (gemini/cancer). The only time I see the Gemini in him is when we're drinking! He lets loose and the "Zach Attack" comes out. He's dancing and jumping all over the place. We even jump in bushes........ haha I'll have to share this hilarious drunken video of us one day. I'll be adding some Geminis once in a while just to show how amazing we are!! (wink wink)
